We combine our technological innovative strength with scientific competence and medical engineering. All MBST therapy devices are the result of continuous research and development. They meet the highest quality standards and combine therapeutic effectiveness with design, ergonomics, energy efficiency, sustainability and patient comfort.

The first MBST therapy devices already achieved the desired therapy results. But we did not stop there but continued to develop new generations of therapy devices that are more efficient and also offer completely new treatment options.

Medical-technological devices shall usually just fulfill the intended function. But we are aware that they need to be able to do more because they are used and operated by humans. More than a safe, registered product is necessary to be successful in the health market. For the third generation of therapy devices (SPIN·SYSTEMS) the EVOCONTOUR product design was developed that attracts attention and lends an emotional quality and charisma to the medical-technological functionality. Design for us does not only encompass the form and aesthetics but we have expanded it to include intuitive operability and highest possbile product safety.

Auditors from TUEV SUED, the leading testing and certification body for medical products, regularly visit MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH for audits. So far, all certifications have been completed successfully.

Treatment of Osteoporosis with Molecular Biophysical Stimulation as Alternative or Supplement to Pharmacotherapy

In this case study, 450 patients (men n = 55, women n = 395) with an average age of 68.4 years were examined on the basis of their anamnesis and medical documentation for the detection of a fracture and treated with MBST magnetic resonance osteoporosis therapy.

MBST magnetic resonance therapy treatment unit for the treatment areas arm, elbow, hand, finger, leg, knee, foot and toes. The rollable and multi-adjustable therapy device allows the treatment of patients of almost any age and height. The body part to be treated can always be optimally positioned by the vertically, horizontally and in the inclination adjustable magnetic resonance unit.

The therapeutic nuclear magnetic resonance changes the balance in intracellular calcium and reduces the interleukin-1ß induced increase of NF-kB activity in chondrocytes

NMRT influenced intracellular calcium signalling by increasing basal [Ca2+] levels. The peak calcium concentration induced by 10 μM histamine was increased by IL-1ß and this increase was reversed by NMRT treatment. Screening of different kinase activities revealed an apparent increase in the activity of MAPK/ERK and MAPK/JNK in NMRT-stimulated cells, p38 was down-regulated. The IL-1ß induced decrease of intracellular ATP and the increased NF-kB activity was reversed under NMRT stimulation.

MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH was already awarded as a top innovator in 2014. In 2016, we again made it into the Top 10 and ranked second in the field of medical technology and fourth in total. That shows that MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH has an unusually professional innovation management even in international comparison. We set standards with this successful rating.

2015

Worldwide distribution of the MBST therapy system

The worldwide distribution of the MBST therapy system continues to increase. In 2015, the MBST therapy system was already used in more than 30 countries worldwide. Internationalization gave MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH further impetus to intensify its research and development work. The MBST franchise system became a growth engine for therapeutically used magnetic resonance technology.

TOP 100 · Top-innovator

On June 27, 2014, MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH was awarded the Top 100 seal by the well-known TV presenter and science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar in Essen. Managing Director Axel Muntermann and his team convinced the jurors with their innovation management and innovation success.

PRO·VET·MOBIL · Therapy device

Based on the findings and successes from the treatment of small animals, the MBST PRO·VET·MOBIL is another mobile therapy device that can be used for the treatment of large animals, horses and, in Arab countries, riding camels.

A special MBST treatment chair was developed that can be also be used in aesthetic medicine.

MBST SPIN·REPAIR for the cosmetic sector

Thanks to extensive research and development activities, magnetic resonance technology was developed for use in the cosmetics sector. MBST SPINREPAIR activates processes in the skin, stimulates the formation of new skin cells and stimulates collagen synthesis.

MBST PRO·VET·STATION · Therapy device

Based on the findings from human medicine, an MBST therapy system for the veterinary sector was developed and successfully introduced. With the MBST PRO-VET-STATION, small animals can be treated gently in an open therapy device.

2004

OSTEO·SYSTEM·DENTAL · First Research

The MBST OSTEO·SYSTEM·DENTAL therapy devices are intended to allow the future treatment of osteoarthritis of the temporomandibular joint. MBST Dental Therapy is also intended to stabilize and improve the density of the jawbone before placing dental implants and to accelerate regeneration after implant placement, fracture or surgery in the area of the jawbone or joint. Another indication is osteoporotic changes of the jawbone.

MBST OPEN·SYSTEM · Therapy device

The OPEN·SYSTEM made it possible to construct "open" magnetic resonance therapy devices with a larger treatment field. This made it possible to expand the treatment spectrum again. Thanks to the open design, shoulders and physically stronger patients could now also be successfully treated with MBST magnetic resonance technology. In addition, the indications were again supplemented by comprehensive research activities.

MBST PRO·MOBIL · Therapy device

The MBST PRO·MOBIL therapy system was developed for the treatment of patients in almost any environment. Extensive research and development work made it possible to manufacture the magnetic resonance applicators in cushion form. The MBST PRO-MOBIL device fits into a conventional trolley case and is therefore easy to transport. That is why it can also be used in the domestic area.

OSTEO·SYSTEM · Therapy device

MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH succeeded in integrating magnetic resonance technology into a whole-body treatment couch. Since osteoporosis as a metabolic disease affects the entire supporting apparatus, it was necessary to develop a possibility for the treatment of the entire body. The magnetic resonance applicators were integrated into the lying surface so that the patient can lie comfortably for the duration of the treatment. In this context, an osteoporosis study was successfully completed in three German medical practices.

First treatment of osteoporosis

The in-house research department has continuously expanded the fine gradation of tissue-specific applications. The magnetic resonance applicators were modified so that the whole body treatment of osteoporosis could get started.

2002

Construction of a magnetic spin spectrometer

In order to determine the exact treatment parameters of different tissue structures, a magnetic spin spectrometer was constructed at company headquarters. The construction was carried out in cooperation with the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. One focus was the measurement of tissue-specific relaxation times. These relaxation times are necessary to develop sequences for the targeted therapy of different diseases in different tissues.

1998

World’s first scientific MBST study

Shortly after the company was founded, the first scientific study on the therapeutic applicability of magnetic resonance (MBST) to cartilage structures was carried out in vivo. Prof. Dr. Ingo Froboese from the Sports University in Cologne was the study leader of the "Evaluation of the effectiveness of MBST on the regeneration of cartilage structures". As part of the efficacy study at the Cologne Sports University, cartilage quantifying MRI images were used to evaluate the regenerative effects in the treated knees in order to evaluate cartilage structure changes and volume increases. The results showed a clear adjustment of the cartilage structures in terms of thickness, volume and surface area.

Company foundation of MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH

After the significant therapeutic successes in the trial phase, Axel Muntermann and his creative development team specialized in designing and constructing the complex magnetic resonance therapy devices. MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH was founded for this purpose.

1996

First prototype for the MBST therapy system

The challenge in the development work was to accommodate the room-filling MRI technology in a much smaller therapy device. After intensive cooperation with physicists, engineers and doctors, the first prototypes were built. These were tested in practice by five selected orthopaedists over a period of two years. In this early development phase, there were only three different indications resp. treatment areas. The trial phase showed very good therapeutic successes, which prompted Axel Muntermann to intensify research and development activities.

First research and development activities

Patients reported, for example, that the pain in their knees had disappeared after repeated MRI examinations. Various researchers became aware of this phenomenon. Our founder Axel Muntermann used these random observations as an opportunity to start initial research and development activities. His long-term goal was the development of innovative therapy devices that make therapeutic use of the magnetic resonance technology known from MRI.

1995

First patent in the field of cardiology

Patenting of a device for linear high-frequency catheter ablation of endomyocardial tissue. The invention concerns a device for high-frequency and in particular radiofrequency and/or microwave catheter ablation of endomyocardial tissue and a corresponding ablation catheter. By using catheters comprising several electrodes with selectively controllable electrodes, a linear ablation in the surface of the heart muscle can be performed for the first time in a single application. The connection of one or more electrodes with an ECG monitor makes the local heart activity before, during and after the treatment detectable and displayable and thus provides the treating physician with immediate information about its success.

Since 1998, MedTec with its therapeutically used magnetic resonance technology has developed from a apioneer to a global market leader. MedTec’s aim: to use research activities to understand the causes of degenerative diseases better and in consequence being able to treat them effectively with MBST therapy non-invasive, gentle and without side effects or interactions.
