MBST magnetic resonance technology is a therapeutically used development from the technology known from MRI. MBST is not used for diagnostic purposes but to biophysically stimulate specific cells. Scientific data shows that the pain-free and silent MBST therapy may trigger processes in the treated tissues which partly continue for several years. Successfully treated patients report about reduced pain up to complete freedom of pain and that some already planned surgical interventions were not necessary anymore.

Economy, politics, health care

In addition to the presentation of the company and the MBST magnetic resonance therapy, an interesting dialogue started about current political events, potentially wrong developments in the health care system and the economical situation in Germany today including the consequences of the Corona pandemics.

Degenerative diseases are on the rise

Medical progress helps us to become older and older. But this also increases the risk of being affected by a degenerative disease such as osteoarthritis. Many people need medical help in order to be able to enjoy the extra time as painlessly as possible while maintaining their independent life. Far too often, surgical interventions are recommended quickly. Modern medicine also offers numerous non-surgical treatment options, such as the MBST magnetic resonance therapy.

Therapeutically used magnetic resonance technology

MBST magnetic resonance therapy is a therapeutically used development based on the principle of magnetic resonance known from MRI. But MBST is not used for diagnostic purposes but uses magnetic resonance for the biophysical stimulation of specific cells. Scientific data suggests that the pain-free and silent MBST therapy may trigger various processes in the treated tissues with an effect that can persist for years. Successfully treated patients report that they could avoid surgery and their pain was reduced up to complete freedom of pain.

MBST therapy for the drug-free treatment of multiple fractures, osteopenia and osteoporosis

During the development of this new MBST therapy system, MedTec paid particular attention to the drug-free osteoprotective approach because a lot of patients suffer from sometimes severe gastrointestinal side effects of the conventional medicinal therapies. A great amount of scientific data, case reports and feedback of successfully treated patients shows that this approach can work. Among others, an increase of the bone density and of the bone turnover marker osteocalcin could be found after MBST magnetic resonance therapy for osteoporosis.

Vicious circle osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is the most frequent disease of the skeleton resp. the bones with more than 200 million people being affected worldwide. The disease causes a reduced bone strength which leads to a higher risk for fractures. In Germany alone, more than 700,000 fractures are attributed to osteoporosis. Moreover, the number and severity of these often spontaneously occurring fractures (fragility fractures) distinctly increases the risk for further fractures. One of five patients in advanced age who suffer a hip fracture dies of the consequences during the following year.

MBST OSTEO therapy approach

The MBST therapy system was developed to transfer energy into the bone tissue in a targeted manner. Its objective is to increase the metabolism and thereby promptly support the body’s own repair mechanisms and regeneration processes. MBST therapy thus directly tackles one of the causes of osteoporosis and other indications around the osseous structures.

OSTEO·SPIN · MBST therapy system

OSTEO·SPIN · MBST whole-body therapy system

OSTEO·SPIN is a whole-body therapy system which allows a treatment of osseous structures, for example in the case of osteopenia, osteo¬porosis and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, that is safe and free of side effects. It is also used for the treatment of metabolic disorders of the bones and neuralgic indications as well as postsurgically and with the aim of accelerating wound healing processes. The patented medical technology of the MBST therapy device in TUEV-certified quality complies with current EU norms and can be used for all age groups.

Widespread disease osteoporosis

Osteoporosis, also called bone loss, is a systemic condition of the skeleton which may affect all bones within the body. At first, an increased degredation of bone mass and a deterioration of the bone structure become apparent. The risk for fractures can increase as a consequence of the bone loss so that even small incidents can cause bone fractures, so called fragility fractures. Osteoporosis with fragility fractures is a serious condition which often causes pain, fear and not seldom a dependency on care. Typical are fractures of vertebral bodies, the femoral neck and the wrists. Especially fractures close to the hip and in the vertebrae of the spine can reduce the quality of life and the ability to live independently. The efficacy of MBST magnetic resonance therapy on osseous structures has been examined in several scientific studies and case reports in vitro and in a clinical setting. In general, these have reported the MBST therapy as free of pain, side effects and interactions and also a treatment that is gentle on the body.

Specialist for orthopaedics Dr. med. Norbert Kaltenkirchen was presented with an MBST Award at the third international medical symposium in Wetzlar. The prize was awarded for the succuessful use of MBST magnetic resonance therapy in the orthopaedic practice in Trier since 2008 which is also an MBST competence centre due to its large range of installed MBST therapy devices.

Orthopaedic practice in Trier – DGFAM-certified centre for osteoarthritis and DVO-certified centre for osteology

The practice is also named Centre for osteoarthritis treatment Trier and has been the first practice in Germany to be certified as centre for osteoarthritis by DGFAM e.V. (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Arthrose-Management), the German Society for Management of Arthritis. DGFAM certifies facilities which offer a conservative and surgical treatment of osteoarthritis according to international guide lines. The orthopaedic practice in Trier is also a DVO-certified centre for osteology (DVO, Dachverband Osteologie/ Confederation for Osteology) and therefore has special competence and experience in prevention and treatment for patients with osteological diseases. This is especially relevant for osteopenia and osteoporosis as an increasing number of people suffers from osteoporosis. This systemic disease of the skeleton reduces the stability of the bones which causes a higher risk for bone fractures.

Dr. med. Norbert Kaltenkirchen is also a DVO-certified osteologist. The DVO is an association of all academic societies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland which deal with bone diseases. The DVO certifies doctors who focus in clinic or private practice on the treatment of patients with osteological diseases and have special experiences in the field of osteology. Dr. Kaltenkirchen has also completed further training in sports medicine, manual medicine/chirotherapy and acupuncture.

On the 6th of March 2020 at the third international medical symposium, Priv.-Doz. Mag. Dr. rer.nat. Bibiane Steinecker-Frohnwieser received an MBST Award. She was honoured for her long-term academic research in the exploration of the active principle of therapeutically used MBST magnetic resonance technology. In Wetzlar, she also gave a lecture about the newest findings in the research on human chondrocytes.

Changes in the miRNA Profile and Hypoxic Behavious of Human chondrocytes by NMRT · NMRT stands for MBST therapy

EULAR (Annual European Congress of Rheumatology) is an annual congress and an important event in the field of rheumatology. It is a unique opportunity to get current information on the state of research in this field. Priv.-Doz. Mag. Dr. rer. nat. Bibiane Steinecker-Frohnwieser presented a conference paper about the topic mentioned above. A detailed study of the mechanisms of NMRT shows a modulating effect on the miRNA, its regulatory units and the chondrocytes under hypoxic conditions. The current results confirm earlier findings which showed that NMRT can counteract changes induced by IL-1β which means that the effect of pain reduction in the case of OA by NMRT may be caused by its effect on inflammatory mechanisms.

Together with Univ.-Doz. Dr. Werner Kullich, Bibiane Steinecker-Frohnwieser has done a great deal of research into the effect of magnetic resonance on cartilage cells. „There are changes, information about inflammatory mechanisms that we have to look into“, says Kullich. They were able to show that after one hour of magnetic resonance exposition, a statistically significant decrease of intracellular calcium is noticeable in Cal-78 cells which may be connected to the reduction of pain that was observed in clinical studies.

On the 6th of March 2020, Univ.-Doz. Dr. Werner Kullich received an MBST Award 2020 at the gala evening during the third international medical symposium in Wetzlar. He was honoured for many years of scientific research about the effects of therapeutic magnetic resonance on the cellular level. Also, he has done several clinical studies about MBST therapy in the treatment of patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system have been completed. Further studies are planned.

350 academic articles in international journals

Univ.-Doz. Dr. Werner Kullich has received 3 prizes of the Austrian state for his accomplishments in foundational research and research about rheumatism. He was also awarded with the academic prize for research in pain by the Austrian Pain Society (Wissenschaftspreis of the Österreichische Schmerzgesellschaft).

“In 2018, we were able to prove the effect of magnetic resonance therapy on a cellular level on the increase and decrease of intracellular calcium”, Univ.-Doz. Dr. Kullich says. This is another step on the way to the use of magnetic resonance as an accepted, evaluated and basically good and effective method for pain reduction. Another finding was the greater risk of leg-amputees for osteoporosis and the apparent positive effect of magnetic resonance in these cases. “This is pretty easy”, Kullich states, “there is a therapeutic effect on the cells. The transferred energy influences a positive outcome.” “This means for the patients that there is a method, a therapy that is minimally invasive and can result in a distinctly lower need for medication and therefore a higher quality of life.”

MBST Award for Dr. Stolzenbach

Dr. med. Volker Stolzenbach was presented with an MBST Award by Axel Muntermann at the gala evening during the third international medical symposium about MBST. Dr. Stolzenbach has used the MBST magnetic resonance system for more than 20 years with great success. In this time, he has not only given a large number of lectures about MBST magnetic resonance therapy but also been a competent advisor in medical questions for MedTec.

Practice philosophy: find and treat the cause, not only the symptoms

Quite often, a treatment has only a short-term effect and the complaints quickly show again. This is often the case with purely symptomatic therapeutic methods that don’t consider and treat the underlying causes. But only a treatment of the cause can result in a lasting improvement. Dr. Stolzenbach uses several innovative treatment options in his private practice for orthopaedics that aim at supporting the body’s own healing processes and stimulate a real healing of the damaged tissue. One of them is the MBST therapy system.

“My specialist training largely centered around surgical treatment methods, as is the case for all orthopaedists. In my own practice, I focused increasingly on avoiding surgery whenever possible. Treatment methods that support or stimulate endogenous weakened powers of self-healing aim at treating the cause of the pain. Their effect doesn’t come as fast as that of pain killers or cortisone because these healing processes take time but they work sustainably. The damaged tissue, for example a tendon or the cartilage in the joint, can recover, regenerate, rejuvenate. And these regenerating treatments also have very few side effects”, says Dr. Stolzenbach.

MBST Award for Dr. Kitaev

At the gala evening during the third international medical symposium about MBST magnetic resonance therapy on the 6th of March 2020, Senior Physician Dr. med. Igor Vladimirovich Kitaev was honoured with an MBST Award. Dr. Kitaev is General Manager of a clinic for joint and spine treatment in Moscow – ArthroMedCenter – and member of the International Scientific Surgical Association. He was medical leader of several studies about MBST therapy.

Outstanding therapeutic efficacy confirmed by Russian studies

20 years of experiences in medical practicing have made it clear to Dr. Kitaev that conservative methods for the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system such as medicinal therapy, physiotherapy and intraarticular injections don’t always have the desired effect in fighting against damages to cartilage, joint and connective tissue.

In 2015, the MBST magnetic resonance therapy came to Dr. Kitaev’s notice. At first, he only treated patients from his extended family. But the exceptionally good therapy results were so convincing that he spend a lot of work and time to prove the efficacy of MBST therapy with more than personal reports. He initiated and concluded clinical studies which finally led to his clinic being granted the necessary medical licence to use the MBST magnetic resonance system in Russia.

According to the General Manager Dr. Kitaev, the staff of the clinic ArthroMedCenter includes several top doctors, candidates of medical science and the best specialists in the field of orthopaedics, rheumatology and neurology. The clinic guarantees the high efficiency of the innovative MBST method which allows the successful treatment of patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system without surgery and side-effects.

At the gala evening during the third international medical symposium about MBST magnetic resonance therapy in Wetzlar on the 6th of March 2020, Florian Saenger received the MBST Award. He has long-term experiences of practising in a clinical setting. Since 2002, he has been working in the fields of internal medicine, emergenc medicine, intensive care, general medicine, visceral and trauma surgery and vascular and cardiac surgery.

Holistic medicine with specialist competence · Analysis of the causes with a broad base of knowledge

His private practice benefits from his clinical experience:

“Due to my broad base of knowledge, I can treat you encompassingly and holisticly. Primarily, this means for me: finding the cause instead of ‘only’ treating the symptoms. By viewing every person as a whole and at the same time taking their individuality into account, I establish the conditions for a sustainable success of the treatment”, Florian Saenger sums up his practice philosophy.

Instrument-based medicine · Private practice Florian Saenger · Wuppertal

Instrument-based therapy describes all therapeutic methods that use complex, usually electronic medical products. The instrument-based medical technology can be used following the physical examination for example for further diagnostics of a disease. In Florian Saenger’s private practice, the internationally patented MBST magnetic resonance technology is used. According to Saenger, the instrument-based MBST magnetic resonance therapy has the aim of regenerating bones and cartilage tissue, intervertebral discs, tendons, ligaments and muscles. Sports injuries and also the healing process after prosthetic implantation and fracture healing can be supported with a physical principle with MBST. In the same way as it happens in an imaging magnetic resonance tomograph (MRI), energy is transferred into the respective tissue which then therapeutically stimulates the metabolism and oscillation of the cells. Furthermore, the cells’ ciracidan rhythms are synchronised.

Study results

Before therapy, patients had hardly been able to lift objects, to sit for more than 10 minutes or hardly at all and had had severe problems with sleeping due to their painful condition. After MBST therapy, they were able to lift heavy objects in a comfortable posture or even from the floor, could sit as long as they wanted to and sleep the whole night because the pain had subsided. According to VAS records, the strength of pain was reduced from 6 to 0 points after 3 and up to 12 months and only rose to 0.5 points after 12 to 18 months. The ODI score was reduced from between 15 and 14 points before treatment to between 0 and 4 points afterwards.

MBST magnetic resonance therapy in handball

According to Dr. Toussaint, every handball player active in the season 2016/2017 had to pause for about 30 days due to some injury. So he started to wonder if downtime and treatment time could be influenced by an innovative, non-surgical therapy. In his lecture at the Wetzlar Medical Symposium, he presented several case studies about how MBST magnetic resonance therapy can positively influence the course of healing after trauma and thereby secure an early therapy success compared to the single use of basic therapy. One of the cases showed a burn that was successfully treated with the wound healing therapy of the MBST therapy device ARTHRO·SPIN·FLEX. The pro athlete wasn’t absent for a single day. Other cases gave an impression of the way in which wound healing and regeneration after surgery can be improved with the course of healing being accelerated by applicating MBST treatment. Moreover, he explained about MBST also being a very good option in the treatment of children. As an alternative to injections or surgery, MBST is less traumatic, without known side effects or interactions and can shorten the course of healing.

“MBST magnetic resonance therapy has several advantages over other treatments”, Dr. med. René Toussaint stated. “The non-invasive treatment is easily available and applicably, has no side effects and can shorten the time of healing.”

Sportorthopaedie Dresden helps ice hockey pros to return to play faster

Team doctor Dr. med. Lars Stephan uses modern methods in the treatment of the players of Dresdner Eislöwen to keep downtimes as short as possible. One of these treatment options is the MBST magnetic resonance therapy that has just supported the healing process of defense player René Kramer.

Therapeutical approach: MBST

In professional sports, injuries have negative consequences for the individual player and for the whole team. Sports injuries lead to a high weight of expectations and a pressure to perform for anyone involved. The player is expected to become fit and active again in the shortest time possible. In order to prevent persisting performance deficits, it is important not to get into the vicious circle of injury – rehab – rebound – rehab. Accelerating the biological healing processes with MBST therapy can reduce the necessary downtimes in professional and leisure sports. The MBST therapy approach is gentle, non-invasive and without illegal substances, also postsurgically and rehabilitationaccompanying. Its aim is to enable a fast and safe return to training, competition and work. Downtimes and the risk for relapses may be reduced considerably due to the increased restoration of full capacity. Professional athletes who were treated successfully with MBST therapy report that they were able to return to training sooner than expected and even won medals at, for example, Olympic Games and World Championships. Scientific data suggests that MBST magnetic resonance technology can trigger various biophysical processes and anti-inflammatory and painrelieving effects (Steinecker-Frohnwieser et al. 2014, Journal of Orthopedics and Rheumatology 9/2014).

MBST as an important support in the recovery from injuries in professional sports

Due to the good medical support, René Kramer of Dresdner Eislöwen was able to return to the team sooner than prognosticated. The defense player had suffered a muscle injury at the beginning of January. One of the treatment methods used was the MBST magnetic resonance therapy. Kramer was fit to start team training earlier than expected. On Sunday, 9th of February, he was back on the ice for the match against the Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim. René Kramer: “It is great to be back on the ice and train with the guys. I will try to improve every day. A huge thank you to our doc and physiotherapists! They have done a great job so that I could return to training earlier than I thought.”

Multiple options for use in professional sports

Different athletes, from soccer to athletics, from volleyball and fist ball to tournament dancing, have tried the MBST magnetic resonance therapy for treatment of injuries on muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones. They include for instance Philipp Weber, Alina Reh, Manuel Eitel, Peter Strosack, Niko Bungert and Maraike Biglmaier. Treated injures were among others bone bruises (bone marrow edema), stress fractures, tendon complaints, cartilage defects and jumper’s knee.

Turkish delegation visits MedTec headquarters in Wetzlar

The MBST magnetic resonance therapy is successfully used in Turkey for the treatment of arthrosis, osteoporosis or disc problems. In the first week of February the Turkish license partners visited at MedTec to learn about the latest developments in the field of therapeutically used magnetic resonance technology.

Extensive expansion plans for MBST in Turkey

F. l. t. r.: Axel Muntermann, Ilker Hasa, Guido Finkes, Yasin Düngur

On February 4 and 5, a delegation of the Turkish MBST master license partner visited the Wetzlar headquarters of MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH. The MBST magnetic resonance therapy system has already been successfully used for almost ten years in many Turkish treatment centers – among others in Istanbul, Ankara and Kocasinan.

Due to the constantly growing demand, it is planned to significantly expand the number of MBST treatment centers. In this context, the focus of the visit was set on the latest MBST therapy devices of the SPIN·SYSTEMS device generation, as these cover a significantly broader range of indications.

MBST therapy for the non-drug treatment of osteomalacia, osteopenia and osteoporosis

Guido Finkes and Ilker Hasa
Guido Finkes, Ilker Hasa

According to the master licence partner, many Turkish women suffer – partly for cultural reasons – from low vitamin D levels, which correlate significantly with bone and muscle pain. A reduced bone density, as found in osteomalacia and osteoporosis, is associated with an increased risk of bone fractures as well as higher rates of morbidity and mortality. The Turkish MBST user therefore aims to establish MBST centres with a focus on osteomalacia, osteopenia and osteoporosis treatment throughout the country. The osteoprotective approach of MBST magnetic resonance technology was is therefore of particular interest because many patients suffer from the sometimes severe gastrointestinal side effects of conventional drug therapies.

New study: Patients with osteoarthritis die younger

In Sweden, a study was recently published in which data from almost 470,000 people were analysed. The results showed an increased mortality rate in patients with osteoarthritis compared to the rest of the population. The difference was particularly striking in patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis. The researchers suspect the pain caused by osteoarthritis as a possible cause, which leads to a lack of exercise.

Analysis of health-related data of almost 30,000 patients with osteoarthritis

It has been discussed controversially in recent years whether joint arthrosis does not only cause pain and limitations, but also increases mortality. A group of researchers from the Swedish University in Lund has conducted a large-scale study on this question. The health-related data of residents aged between 45 and 84 in the Skåne region were analysed over a period of ten years. Of the 469,152 residents in this age group, 29,189 were diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The researchers compared the mortality rate per 1,000 persons of people without osteoarthritis with those suffering from knee, hip, hand or other osteoarthritis.

Increased risk of cardiovascular disease

Further research about the reasons for this significantly higher mortality rate is needed. Martin Englund from the University of Lund in Sweden, the author of the study, suspects that one possible cause is that the vascular system is afflicted by chronic inflammatory processes. Another possible explanation might be that people affected exercise significantly less than healthy people. Englund: "This creates a risk of weight gain, which, as we know, can lead to secondary diseases such as cardiovascular diseases."

Lack of exercise and inflammation may be possible causes

Further research about the reasons for this significantly higher mortality rate is needed. Martin Englund from the University of Lund in Sweden, the author of the study, suspects that one possible cause is that the vascular system is afflicted by chronic inflammatory processes. Another possible explanation might be that people affected exercise significantly less than healthy people. Englund: "This creates a risk of weight gain, which, as we know, can lead to secondary diseases such as cardiovascular diseases."

Less pain and increased mobility by suitable osteoarthritis therapy

Since physical activity in arthrosis patients is typically accompanied by sometimes severe pain, many patients avoid movement as much as possible. Especially in the case of knee and hip arthrosis, which showed the highest mortality rate in the study, the walking distance is often severely restricted and sport is usually impossible. By enabling more activity, therapy options for osteoarthritis such as the MBST magnetic resonance therapy, which reduce the pain and may lead to increased physical activity, might even have another benefit for the patients besides an improved quality of life.

MBST supports Trier soccer player Branscheid

Team doctor Dr. med. Peter Krapf uses most modern treatments for the players of Eintracht Trier to keep downtimes as short as possible. Among others, this is the MBST magnetic resonance therapy that was for instance used in the treatment of goalgetter Jan Branscheid.

Theapeutic approach: biophysical cell stimulation

MBST magnetic resonance therapy has not only proven itself in the treatment of degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system like osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. With its therapeutic approach of biophysical cell stimulation it is also used increasingly in professional sports – also preventive and postsurgical. The aim of the metabolic stimulation is then the acceleration of the healing process in order to reduce the necessary downtime. Scientific data suggests that MBST magnetic resonance technology stimulates various biophysical processes and triggers anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects (Steinecker-Frohnwieser et al. 2014, Journal of Orthopedics and Rheumatology 9/2014).

Supporting the healing process in case of injuries

These days, MBST magnetic resonance therapy is used in the treatment of Jan Branscheid in the attempt to keep the striker’s injury-related pause after suffering a rupture of a bundle of muscles during training as short as possible. The treatment is done in the practice of Dr. med. Peter Krapf in Trier who has long experience in the application of therapeutic magnetic resonance for professional athletes. "The therapy often has fast and sustainable results while also being gentle on the patient and free of side-effects. That is a unique advantage", SVE team doctor sums up that modern therapy option.

We wish a speedy and sustainable recovery to Jan Branscheid as well.

MBST therapy supports winner of gold medals Diana Dadzite

Diana Dadzite is professional athlete to the core. She plays wheelchair basketball in the German premier league at the Dolphins Trier and is also competing in shot-put, discus and javelin throw. At the Paralympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, she was flagbearer of the Latvian team at the opening ceremony and won the gold medal in javelin throwing. Dadzite suffers from a left-sided paraparesis with spina bifida and status post fracture of the 12th thoracic vertebra. Since a car crash in 2012, she is dependent on the wheelchair.

Anamnesis

In spring 2017, Diana Dazite suffered from a pain in the wrist of her right throwing hand. The complaints had been present for some weeks but no apparent cause could be found. She was just preparing for paralympic track-and-field world championship. in London but the pain prevented her training so that her appearance was in danger. Physiotherapy of physical therapy, drugs, bandages and swelling-reducing treatments didn’t cause the hoped-for result.

Diagnosis

Clinical examinations showed that the mobility of the right wrist was restricted and painful. X-ray of hand and wrist was normal. An MRI scan showed a bone bruise of the elbow bone of the forearm with an effusion and an accumulation of liquid in the tissue.

Therapy

A medicinal therapy with NSAR, drugs to inhibit pain and inflammation, as well as physical treatment and physiotherapy and a bandage were applicated but there was no improvement.

MBST magnetic resonance therapy

In February 2017, she started with an MBST magnetic resonance therapy that the treating physician recommended because it has been used in similar cases with very good results. MBST therapy was again successful. Dadzite’s pain disappeared and she was able to participate at the paralympic track-and-field world championship in July 2017 where she won 3 gold medals, even with new world record in javelin throw.

Sustainable effect

She still has no problems with her throwing hand. The complaints did not return even during the stress of competition after the successful MBST therapy. At the paralympic track-and-field European championship in Berlin in August 2018 the exceptionally talented Latvian won gold medals in her specialty disciplines again. We are glad that our MBST magnetic resonance therapy was able to help her so well and sustainably and wish her all the best for the future.

MBST - Innovative medical technology for non-invasive stimulation of regenerative processes

MBST magnetic resonance therapy is a therapeutic development of the technology known from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, MBST is not used for diagnostic purposes, but aims to use the effect of magnetic resonance to biophysically stimulate specific cells. Scientific data show that repair or regeneration processes can be triggered in the tissues treated in this way. In many cases, surgical interventions can be avoided and pain can be reduced up to painlessness. As a result, many patients report an improved quality of life. MBST therapy is currently successfully used in the treatment of degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, injuries to muscles, ligaments and tendons, bone metabolic disorders and wound healing problems - both preventively, postsurgically and accompanying rehabilitation.

Axel Muntermann, founder and CEO of MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH: „We are proud that not only we are once again among the TOP 100 innovators in Germany, but also that we have managed to further improve our innovation and progress record of recent years. MBST supports Leipzig handball players Janke and Rojewski

Handball premier league club SC DHfK Leipzig has to do without Maximilian Janke and Andreas Rojewski in the last 2 matches of the season due to injuries. The medical department uses most modern technology in the intensive rehabilitation programme to keep the downtimes as short as possible. Among others, MBST magnetic resonance therapy is used.

Therapeutic approach: Biophysical stimulation

MBST has not only proven itself in the treatment of degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. With its therapeutic approach of biophysical cell stimulation, it is also used increasingly in professional sports – also preventive and postsurgical.

Supporting healing up of injuries

At the moment, MBST magnetic resonance with the regenerative approach is used in the treatment of 2 regular players of SC DHfK Leipzig. Maximilian Janke is treated for intraarticular ligament lesion and bone bruise of the knee that he suffered at the last weekend in the match against HSG Wetzlar. In the case of Andreas Rojewski, a cartilage defect is treated. Treatment is applicated in Dr. med. René Toussaint’s Praxis für Orthopädie und Sportmedizin am Brühl who has yearlong experience in the treatment of professional athletes with therapeutic magnetic resonance.

We hope that Maximilian Janke and Andreas Rojewski will also recover fast and sustainably.

Mayor of Wetzlar Semler visits MedTec

The Mayor of Wetzlar Harald Semler visited the headquarters of MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH today. He was accompanied by Rainer Dietrich of the office of economic development. Founder and president Axel Muntermann and Sales & Marketing Director Guido Finkes informed the city’s representatives about the basics of the technoloy and active principle of the MBST therapy system that MedTec has developed.

MBST therapy for the non-invasive stimulation of regenerative processes

MBST magnetic resonance therapy is a therapeutic development from the technology that is known from MRI. But MBST is not used for diagnostic purposes but uses the effect of magnetic resonance to biophysically stimulate specific cells. Scientific data shows that the pain-free and silent MBST therapy can stimulate regenerative processes in the treated tissues that can even be noticeable after several years. Thus, surgery can be prevented in many cases and pain might be reduced up to complete disappearance. The MBST therapy has a causal approach in the treatment of degenerative diseases of the cartilage. That means it aims directly at the cause of the disease. In the treatment of injuries and other indications MBST is used for its anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving effects and to actively accelerate healing processes, also preventive, postsurgical and rehabilitation-accompanying.

Innovative hightech medical technology from Wetzlar

Development and production of the patented therapeutic technology is only done at the headquarters in Wetzlar. Today, the unique hightech therapy devices are used in more than 40 countries worldwide. MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH has repeatedly been awarded as TOP 100 · Top-Innovator of German SME’s for its innovation management and has also been nominated for the Health Media Award.

MBST in professional sports with the handball team of HSG Wetzlar

It is not widely known that MedTec also supports the premier league handballteam of HSG Wetzlar with its therapy devices. Philipp Poeter, the former player Philipp Weber and lately Alexander Herrmann were among those who profited from the regenerative approach of MBST therapy in the treatment of injuries.

Innovative therapy option for treatment of osteoarthritis

About 12,4 million people in Germany are affected by the progressive wide-spread disease osteoarthritis.1 Many patients suffer from severe restrictions of their everyday life due to intense pain and disabilities. The wide-spread disease osteoarthritis is not only common among the older population but also younger people are affected more and more often. An innovative therapy approach can give hope to the patients who want to prevent an artificial joint.

Cartilage degeneration causes inflammation and pain

Osteoarthritis is characterised by a degeneration of the cartilage in the joint and growth on the bone surfaces. First symptoms are usually a feeling of stiffness and then pain, at first during movement, then permanently. Cold and damp weather as well as physical stress can increase the pain. Many therapy options often help only for a short time. Infusions or injections with pain killers, hyaluronic acid or other drugs shall alleviate the complaints. The disease itself, however, progresses even further. In the end, an operation may become necessary to replace the worn-out joint. For a long time, mechanical wearing and degeneration due to age were seen as the causes. Analyses show that there must also be other factors that contribute to the development of osteoarthritis. Newer studies indicate that molecular disorders in the cartilage cells might further the degeneration of cartilage in the joints.2 This is where an innovative German therapy method finds its starting point, aiming at the molecular processes within the cells. The MBST therapy not only aims at the regeneration of the cartilage and a reduction of the pain with an increased mobility but also tries to preserve the original joints and prevent surgical interventions. For this, MBST uses the physical effect of magnetic resonance that is also used in MRI.

Stimulation of regeneration of cartilage tissue

MRI stimulates hydrogen protons for diagnostic purposes. MBST uses the technology not to generate images but to transfer energy in a targeted way into damaged or diseased cells on a molecular level. The aim of this biophysical stimulation is triggering the body’s own repair mechanisms and regenerative processes.

Without injections, drugs or known side-effects

Scientific data shows that the MBST therapy stimulates the cellular metabolism among others3,4 which is important for the regeneration of cartilage. Newer studies show that the MBST magnetic resonance therapy even takes one more step.

MBST and circadian stimulation

Every body cell has an internal clock. Research shows that displaced cell clocks can be recognized as one of the causes of osteoarthritis5. The misregulated cells that have lost their rhythm can no longer carry out important cartilage building processes. Studies6 have now shown that the cell clocks can be influenced by MBST, which enables readjustment. This not only leads to completely new therapeutic approaches in the treatment of osteoarthritis, but also for wound healing disorders, osteoporosis, intervertebral disc damage or back pain.

MBST supports handball player Alexander Hermann

Alexander Hermann, defensive back of handball premier league team HSG Wetzlar, is out of action at the moment. The medical team uses most modern treatments in an intensive rehabilitaiton programme to keep Hermann’s downtime as short as possible. Among others, the MBST magnetic resonance therapy is applied.

Therapeutic approach: Biophysical cell stimulation

Support for healing process of bone marrow edema

These days, the regenerative approach of MBST magnetic resonance therapy is used in the treatment of HSG Wetzlar player Alexander Hermann. The Austrian national team player suffered a bone marrow edema in the knee during the European championship in Croatia. Hermann is treated with therapeutic magnetic resonance at the headquarter of MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH in Wetzlar for 1 hour daily, 9 days, to support and accelerate the healing process. "We are missing one of our key players of the first half of the season and one of our best goal-getters. Therefore, Alex’ fast return to training is very important for us. We are grateful to MedTec GmbH for the fast and uncomplicated help", says HSG managing director Björn Seipp.

Most modern therapy devices

Hermann is treated with the newest therapy unit of the Wetzlar-based company, ARTHRO·SPIN·LIFT, which has only been available since the end of last year and which has further optimized the magnetic resonance therapy concept that has proven itself in the last 20 years. The treatment is absolutely free of pain. "I don't feel anything", says Hermann. He hopes to be able to return to training in about 4 weeks. Until then the Austrian only has to take care to be on time and bring something to pass an hour!

Milestones of therapeutically used MBST magnetic resonance technology

The field of chronobiology has stepped into the focus of public interest with the awarding of this year’s Nobel Prize for medicine. This also confirms the most important research of MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH around those natural clock generators of our inner cell clocks. The technological advance of MBST magnetic resonance therapy is especially apparent in the therapy devices that have been delivered since the beginning of December, the first to have a direct effect on the cell clocks and therefore offer absolutely new treatment options for several diseases such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and also postsurgical, postinjuries or for wound healing disorders.

MBST ARTHRO·SPIN·LIFT · The most recent development of the MBST SPIN·SYSTEMS therapy device generation

MedTec Medizintechnik GmbH has installed the first MBST ARTHRO·SPIN·LIFT therapy devices in medical practices in Germany since the beginning of December. The first patients are already being treated with those devices. It is especially noteworthy in ARTHRO·SPIN·LIFT that it contains technolocial parts that aim at an effect on the circadian rhythm of our cell clocks.

MBST for the treatment of degenerative diseases and injuries

The MBST magnetic resonance therapy system ARTHRO·SPIN·LIFT has been developed for the pain and stress free treatment of degenerative diseases and injuries on arms and legs. Among many other indications, gonarthrosis, arthrosis of the wrist, tennis elbow and Osgood Schlatter disease have been treated with MBST therapy with very good results. Therapy aim is the restoration of functioning and capacity of the damaged tissue as well as the reduction of pain. Patients report about a decrease up to complete freedom of pain. Recently, the good therapy results in professional sports have hit headlines. Top athletes like Matt Siddall of the Dresdner Eislöwen were able to return to team training much earlier after injury-related downtimes.

Enhanced range of indications

The MBST therapy devices of the SPIN·SYSTEM series have enhanced the range of indications treatable with MBST magnetic resonance therapy. Based on latest research, these MBST therapy devices can also be used for the acceleration of healing processes and to reduce the consequences following surgical interventions. Hence, they offer completely new therapy options i. e. in the case of non-healing wounds or wound healing disorders that are a common problem for patients with diabetes.

Groundbreaking results in chronobiological research for MBST magnetic resonance therapy

Recent results of research activities show that the MBST magnetic resonance technology has a direct effect on misregulated inner cell clocks which offers a new mode of action in the treatment of different diseases. This way, the functions of cells in a state of inflammation may be influenced. In the case of osteoarthritis for example, MBST may effect mechanisms that are involved in stabilising the metabolism of cartilage cells which can slow down or stop cartilage degeneration. These new groundbreaking developments are applied for patent and show the uniqueness of MBST magnetic resonance therapy.
